BBC: Gadgets ‘threaten energy savings’

The BBC News reports that…

Gadgets ‘threaten energy savings’

They discuss the findings of a report that gadgets will account for 45% of electricity used by UK householdsĀ  by 2020. I’lll guess that the US figures are similar. Flat panel (LCD, plasma, etc.) TVs appears to be the worst of the offenders.

So, what’s the effect of using a flat panel TV with a power strip and turning the whole strip off when not in use? Other than a longer start-up period, would that cause any problems?

Check this Map out, has United States Interactive Carbon Footprint Map, illustrating Greenest States. This site has all sorts of stats on individual State energy consumptions, demographics and State energy offices.
