Energy Star reports to Congress on power use

Data centers used about 1.5 percent of total U.S. electricity consumption in 2006 (61 billion kWh). If current trends continue, this usage is expected to nearly double by 2011. The article notes the study’s three scenarios to increase the adoption rate of energy efficient technologies.
